Q:

What is one Asian person that has positively impacted/inspired you in your career, and what’s one lesson they taught you?

A:

My dad is my role model and has positively inspired my whole life. Every time when I regret something I didn’t do well and complain “what if…,” he always taught me to focus on the bright side and think what can be done to improve my future life. This mindset taught me to deal with disappointments and difficulties which helped me to become an optimistic person today.Fei

Q:

Describe one or more characteristics about yourself that you believe led to your success

A:

I am a very extroverted person. I like to make friends and talk with people. I believe that you can always learn something from the people around you. I am also an eager-learner and like to challenge myself by trying different things that I feel are interesting.

Q:

From your perspective what would you advise a young Asian person who is just entering their professional career? What would you like them to know?

A:

Get familiar with the work being assigned and keep on checking if there is anything to be improved. Talk to your coworkers, make friends with them and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Q:

How do you support or connect with other Asian people in your community?

A:
I volunteer at our local Chinese community organization. We celebrated Chinese New Year by performing a talent show. We helped prepare and sell Chinese food in the community Ethnic Expo. We donated Chinese books to county’s library. We also donated money and masks to local hospitals and police departments last year during the pandemic.Fei
Q:

Describe something meaningful to you, with regards to your heritage

A:

My kids were born in America and their first language that they learned was English. My kids knowing the Chinese language and culture has special meaning to me. I sent my kids to Chinese school every Sunday so they could not only to learn how to read and speak but also learn how to write in Chinese. I hope in the future, being a bilingual person, they can help more people and contribute to their communities.
