Olivier Chavy, President of Panorama

Olivier:
You are still pretty new to Panorama, joining in March of 2020 – right before the pandemic! What have you learned about yourself during this experience?
Sebastian:
This experience has definitely taught me that there is no roadmap for anything – it really reinforces the notion to look outside the box, and you don’t always have to do it like it’s always been done before.
O:
Your team and coworkers are all over the world. How do you stay connected?
S:
In many of my jobs, I grew up in a world of working virtually with people all over the world. But we definitely use Microsoft Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, texting – it helps keep communication lines open. I've only met two people on my team in person!
O:
What’s your favorite thing about the new brand with 7Across?
S:
I feel like it has young energy. Since launch, everyone is definitely excited about the fun and youthful look and feel. I’m super excited about what we’ll be able to do with it moving forward.
O:
What are three words your colleagues would use to describe you?
S:
Energized, Empathetic, and Switzerland (because my team says I’m able to stay neutral and work with many different groups).
O:
I hear you’ve traveled to nearly 20 countries. Which was your favorite, and why?
S:
I’ve always loved Mexico – it’s probably one of my favorite places to travel. I really like the hospitality and culture – and the food I love. And it’s easy to travel to Mexico from Florida!
O:
What is your dream vacation or next vacation once we can travel again?
S:
I would really love to make a west coast road trip in the United States, and see places like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon – maybe rent an RV and travel up and down the California coast.
O:
Tell me something about you that nobody knows?
S:
I have a really strange thing about metal hangers – I can only use white, plastic hangers. I’m a super organized person and even hang up all of my t-shirts.
O:
If you could select one song as your life’s theme, what song would it be?
S:
This is so weird, but it’s been my ringtone on my phone for a long time - Under Pressure by Queen.
O:
If you were stranded on a deserted island for three months, what three items would you take with you?
S:
Golf clubs, a makeshift grill, and a really long book.
O:
If you could spend an evening with one celebrity, who would it be?
S:
This is really random – but probably Mark Cuban. It went to Indiana University where I went to school. I love him because he has a bit of an edge, and he seems like an independent guy and strong business man.
O:
If you were president of Panorama, what would be your first decision?
S:
Besides doubling the size of the marketing team! I would probably put a six week moratorium on big projects, so we can focus on launching Salesforce marketing cloud!
O:
Do you have any questions for me?
S:
When was the last time you sang karaoke?
O:
I was in Japan – in one of the towers where every floor is a karaoke room. It was terrible, because I think I sing as well as I dance!
