Loco for Cabo San Lucas
When most think of Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas is typically the first that comes to mind. A hotspot destination for partygoers, girls’ weekends, and bachelor and bachelorette events, it’s known for its extravagant nightlife overlooking fantastic beaches. If thrills and fun are focal points for your next vacation, look no further than Cabo San Lucas.
The Arch & Lover’s Beach
Pass by any souvenir store and you’ll recognize this iconic rock landmark, known as El Arco or “The Arch.” The dramatic, 200-foot granite rock formation curls over the southern end of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. It makes for stunning views and backdrops for photos.
Find Lover’s Beach, or Playa del Amor, nestled right up to the cliffs by The Arch, and if the tides permit, stop by and enjoy this secluded area to relax under the rays, snorkel, or just take a dip. The only way to get to these stunning locations is by sea — and since the journey should be just as fun as the destination, treat yourself to a unique experience by hopping aboard a glass-bottom boat to peer down at the tropical fish below. Feeling a little more adventurous? Make your way over by paddleboard!
Medano Beach
Medano Beach, or Playa el Médano, is known as “the beach” in Cabo San Lucas. It’s the longest swimmable beach in the area and the place to be to let the sun shine all around you. Choose from every activity under the sun like jet skiing, kayaking, waterskiing, banana boating, and parasailing. It’s also right by downtown and lined with bars and restaurants, as well as local vendors selling trinkets. While you’re there, grab a bite at Tobasco Beach Restraunt & Bar, Mango Deck Cabo, or The Office On The Beach for delicious drinks and crowd-pleasing menus.
Laid Back in San Jose del Cabo
If bars pulsing with music and lively beaches aren’t quite your scene and you’re instead looking for a more relaxed beach getaway, consider opting for San Jose de Cabo, perfect for couples and families. It may as well Cabo San Lucas’ easy-going older sibling. You’ll still find the same breathtaking ocean views in a more idyllic setting packed with culture and community.
Pamilla Beach
Pamilla Beach, or Playa Pamilla, is a stretch of coastline that even has a lifeguard on duty! It’s a popular hotspot for families to come enjoy the sun and surf, as well as activities such as snorkeling and paddleboarding.
Little Beach
Also worth checking out is Little Beach, or Playa La Playita, with its decadent, white sand. Wade into the sparkling waters of one of Los Cabos’ newest beaches which invites swimmers safely into a roped off area just for taking a dip. Kids will love the kiddie play structure and adults will love the natural beach that leaves plenty of room for fishing, skimboarding, and surfing.
Blue Coast Beach
Blue Coast Beach, or Costa Azul, is a considerably quieter beach if you’re looking to relax away from the crowds. This is also a great local spot for whale watching – keep your eyes peeled if you go December through March!
Downtown
Downtown San Jose del Cabo is considerably quieter than Los Cabos, and here you can immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture. Take your time to stroll through various boutiques, art galleries, and authentic jewelry shops sourced from all over Mexico. Every Thursday from November to June, you can also enjoy the Cultural Art Walk while sipping wine and meeting local artists.
Traditional Fare
Where Los Cabos has variety and every imaginative margarita under the sun, San Jose del Cabo truly shines with its traditional Mexican cuisine.
