Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas has long been synonymous with gambling, glitzy shows, and food buffets. But Sin City has a lot more to offer for singles, couples, and families alike. You just need to know where to look!

One of the first places on your list should be the Linq Promenade. This open-air district is home to the world’s tallest observation wheel, called the High Roller. There’s plenty to do here, including shopping, catching a show, and more.

Next, give your wallet a break by simply cruising the strip on foot. Most of the child-captivating sights are free, like the fire-blowing Mirage Volcano and the Fountains of Bellagio show. Finish your free walk on the strip with a visit to the Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo.

If there are thrill seekers among your group, check out Adventuredome at CircusCircus. This five-acre indoor theme park has it all, from coasters to rock climbing to laser tag.

Finally, a trip to Las Vegas isn’t complete without a trip to the Hoover Dam (about 45 minutes to one hour away). Plan to stay about two hours while there and consider taking one of two tours offered.

Las Vegas shopping malls–if you can call them that–blur the line between real and faux, but the entertainment value is genuine.

A Day In: Las Vegas

Exploring the city’s charming side, from downtown to the Strip.

BY ANDREA BENNETT

Up and at ’Em: Chef Natalie Young’s breakfast and lunch joint, Eat, infuses American classics with New Mexican and French flavors. The line can be long, but your patience will be rewarded with eggs motuleños (made with tortillas, black beans, cheese and other toppings); a truffled egg sandwich; or what are arguably the most delicious pancakes in the city—crisp on the outside, fluffy inside and served with chicken-apple...
