Mevagissey is historically linked to the beautiful & enchanting Lost Gardens of Heligan, which can be reached by bike & where the Italianate gardens can be admired, the ‘Jungle' garden can be explored & lunch can be enjoyed in the cafe. Sea fishing, boat trips & a ferry to Fowey leave the harbour during the season. The beaches of Pentewan, Port Mellon & Gorran Haven are all easily accessible. Port Mellon beach can be reached on foot & is in a small sheltered cove, perfect for relaxing, exploring or rock pooling. A cycle track at Pentewan provides an alternative route to the Eden Project. It joins a network of trails into the heart of Cornwall's historic china clay area. Other attractions in the area are Caerhays House and Garden, a vineyard & the Shipwreck & Heritage Centre at nearby Charlestown - home to tall sailing ships & a regular set used for film and TV programmes.
