There are endless miles of forest roads & trails to explore, both for walking & cycling from a gentle stroll on the shores of Loch Lubnaig, to a vigorous hike to the summit of Benvane, or a relaxing boat trip on Loch Katrine. Although Loch Lubnaig is very nearby, from the west bank its not very accessible as it involves walking through private rough grazing that may have sheep or ponies on it. It may be possible to get closer further along the cycle route but it would be a decent distance. The River Balvaig is much easier to access from Benvane although being a river its only safe when the water is low. The area is also rich in Scottish history, with many stories relating to Rob Roy Macgregor, whose grave can be found in the kirkyard at Balquhidder. The tourist town of Callander is only 10 miles away & can also be reached on the cycle path. Shop, pub & restaurant 1/2 mile.
