The medieval buildings were funded by the profits of the 16th & 17th century Sussex Iron Industry. Come & see the Mayfield Bonfire Boys & Belles, one of the oldest bonfire organisations in the country, who arrange a noisy, colourful torch light procession & firework display in the Autumn. Once the iron industry faded Mayfield became a hotbed of smuggling, known as owlers the farmers smuggled wool out of the country & returned with brandy & silk! An excellent walking & cycling territory with a 3 mile circular walk around the village or slightly further afield, explore the Cuckoo Trail, Bewl Water & Bedgebury Pinetum. Battle Abbey, Batemans, Rudyard Kipling's home (NT) & Charleston Farm house are well worth visiting. Enjoy beautiful walks, where there are many historical sites along the way. Train enthusiasts can take a journey on the Bluebell Railway or the Kent & East Sussex steam railway. Fishing & golf are also available locally. Shop 150yds, pub & restaurant 15 yards.

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

Exit M25 at J5 & take A21 towards Sevenoaks & Hastings. Branch left & merge onto A26 'Southborough & Tunbridge Wells'. Continue through the traffic lights at Southborough & at roundabout take 2nd exit onto A26 'Lewes East Grinstead & Eastbourne'. Bear left onto London Rd. At roundabout take 1st exit onto A267 sign posted Frant. Continue for approx. 8 miles - through Frant & then turn left onto Tunbridge Wells Rd signposted Mayfield. At T junction turn left into Fletching St. At bottom of hill is The Rose & Crown pub on left hand side - pass the pub & you will spot a driveway opposite the pub which you can turn into & unload from - Warren Cottage is behind 1st gate in the fence on the right of the driveway. After unloading please park on road as the driveway isn't Warren cottage's
