Isle Of Bute,  Scotland  PA20 9NW

Resort telephone number: XDIR

There are many breath taking scenic walks in the area. The island has 3 golf courses, cycle tracks, horse riding, kayaking & lots of wildlife to see. For fishing, the inland lochs are popular with anglers for coarse & game fishing. Close by is Mount Stuart House, said to contain more marble than any other building in the British Isles. A few miles away is Rothesay, a traditional Victorian seaside resort which has managed to maintain its grand architecture. It still has its ancient castle, built to fend off the Vikings, & a museum. From Rothesay harbour trips can be taken around the islands on the Waverley, the last sea-going paddle steamer ship in the world. Further along the coast is the pretty harbour town of Port Bannatyne. At the north end is a car ferry that provides easy access to the Cowal Peninsula & another way onto the mainland for those wishing to explore the Highlands. Beach 25yds. Shop 150yds, pub (they run a free courtesy mini bus) & restaurant 1 mile.

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

Take the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay/ Isle of Bute. The crossing takes 35 minutes with sailings every 45 minutes - 1 hour depending upon the time of day. You can't book, just turn up and buy a ticket. On leaving the ferry turn right and follow the A844 for approx 8 miles.Turn left at the Kingarth Hotel and follow the road into Kilchattan Bay. Continue until you see the old pier on your left and St Blanes House is just a little further on the right. If travelling down from the north of Scotland there is a small car ferry at the North of the island sailing from Colintraive to Rhubodach.
