Ellesmere has grown over the years into a pretty market town with medieval streets, Georgian houses & half-timbered buildings. There's also plenty of shops selling everything from antiques, gifts to exotic food, & a good selection of pubs, bars, takeaways and restaurants. Its position in the north of Shropshire makes it an ideal base for exploring Shropshire, Cheshire, mid and North Wales. There is a series of gentle walks in & around the town that will take you past the marina, along the canal to the mere or through the arboretum and Cremorne Gardens. Further afield you will find National Trust properties within a 40-minute drive. There is a sailing club on one of the meres, go karting and paintballing are also available near Oswestry, as is Park Hall working farm. Nearby Llangollen is home to horse drawn canal boat rides, white water sports, steam train and the National Eisteddfod. Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth are an easy drive. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 50 yards.
