The tranquil village is steeped in history, with parts of the Roman defences and two spectacular mosaic pavements are on view at the English Heritage Museum in the village. The red and blue striped maypole, formerly a ship's mast, is permanently situated on the green ready for the annual Mayday fate. The village also hosts a prestigious classical music event in June, the Northern Aldborough Festival. There is a friendly village pub and the neighbouring town of Boroughbridge has several inns, shops and restaurants. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists, and is an ideal base from which to explore Knaresborough, Harrogate, Ripon and York. Local attractions include Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall and Sutton Bank, and family fun can be found at Lightwater Valley and Brimham Rocks. The Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors are easily accessible. Shop 1 1/2 miles, pub and restaurant 500 yards .

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

Leave the A1 at Junction 48 and follow the signs for Boroughbridge on the roundabout(s) at the top of the slip road. As you enter the 30mph zone, take the T junction immediately on the right hand side, signposted Aldborough B6265. After 0.4 miles GIVE WAY at the cross roads! Go straight over and drop down into the village of Aldborough. With the maypole ahead of you turn right across the village green and right again at the village green cross roads. Hall Farm is then on your left.
