Taddington benefits from its own local 17th-century pub, is home to the grand Church of St Michael and takes part in the annual tradition of Well Dressings. It also claims to have 17 miles of footpaths which together with The Limestone Way passing through, makes it an ideal base for walkers. Being situated midway between Buxton and Bakewell, also makes it a perfect touring base with the magnificent buildings of Buxton Opera House, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth Estate all easily reached in around 15 minutes. The historic plague village of Eyam can be reached in around 20 minutes and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton or Matlock, home to Britain’s first alpine style cable car is around a half an hour drive. Finally for even bigger thrills Alton Towers is just a 45 minute car journey away.
