The forest is rich in wildlife where local deer and wild boar can sometimes be seen. A short walk away is Symonds Yat Rock which overlooks the gorge and has spectacular views that change with every season. It is also a special place for bird watchers, who can delight at the nesting peregrine falcons through the RSPB's telescopes. There are two hand (pull) cable ferries to cross the river at Symonds Yat, and plenty of pubs and picnic sites on either side of the riverbank, don't forget to try the local Wye Valley Brewery and local ciders. An array of outdoor pursuits can be found locally, such as walking, golfing, riding, canoeing, mountain biking, climbing, caving, paint-balling, lazer tag, archery and shooting.
