Close by is Dawlish Beach, Brunel's famous sea-front railway viaduct, the Black Swans of Dawlish and The Lawn with gardens where you can relax on those sunny days. Dawlish was much loved, by amongst others, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie and the poet John Keats. Just a short stroll away there are shops, tea rooms, coffee shops, the famous Gay's Creamery and several pubs. Golf, cycling, walking and bird watching can also be enjoyed close by. It is very central for exploring the area by car, train or bus including Exeter, Powderham, Starcross, Cockwood, Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth, Shaldon, Newton Abbot, The Teign Valley and Dartmoor. There are ongoing activities and events throughout the summer season including Dawlish Arts Week, fetes, funfair, folk music festival, carnival parade, fireworks, family activities and air show.
