Nestled on a 400-acre family-run working farm, this 17th Century farmhouse provides delightful, spacious accommodation for family gatherings or groups there is space to socialise with two lounges & a large farmhouse-style kitchen. There is also a private garden, nearby orchards & fields to have fun in or to simply relax. Stepping into the flagged stone entrance porch & through the grand oak door into the panelled hallway, you will get a sense of the history of this wonderful house. With oak beams, thick stone walls & original bread oven in the kitchen, the property retains much of the character of the original building, whilst every modern convenience is provided to make your stay comfortable whatever the season. On chillier evenings, the wood burner & open fire will provide the focal point for cosy nights in. Enjoy extensive views of the Begwn Hills & the Black Mountains & Brecon Beacons, along with woodland & wildlife. The owners are happy to offer farm tours subject to availability.

Nearby is Rhosgoch Bog, a conservation area perfect for birdwatchers. At the highest point, known as the ‘Roundabout’ on the Begwn Hills, there are spectacular views & you can see seven counties on a clear day. Hay-on-Wyeh has antique shops & cafés, as well as many book shops. Explore the atmospheric ruins of nearby Llanthony Priory, an early 13th Century Augustinian church which is open all year & free. Apart from being home to the internationally famous Royal Welsh Show, along with a host of other events, nearby Builth Wells offers everything from sports & leisure facilities, to an 18 hole golf course, pony trekking & renowned angling spots. The red kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm offers the opportunity to come in close contact with these rare & magnificent birds on a daily basis.

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

From A470 (Hereford/Brecon), Enter Clyro, turn off main road signed 'Painscastle'. Follow road until church, following signs for Painscastle, exiting village. After 3/4 mile, take left for Painscastle. Follow road 5 miles to Painscastle. On entering Painscastle, go straight over crossroads signposted 'Erwood' on B4594. Follow road out of village for 1 mile. The drive for Farmhouse is on right with sign reading TROWLEY at bottom of drive. Follow drive up to 3 houses, keep left going through. You can park in the yard outside the farmhouse. Sat-nav LD2 3JH, some will take you to church, turn back down road turn left at T-junction; over bridge and turn at sign for TROWLEY. As above. Mobile phone reception is patchy in the area, so do not rely on your phone for final stages of the navigation.
