Abbotskerswell village has a good food pub, shop, cafe and church, mid-way between the edge of Dartmoor at Ashburton with local shops, cafes and restaurants, and the seaside resort of Torquay. Stunning views are to be seen just about everywhere across the bay, out over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill, or inland towards the tors of Dartmoor. This is an ideal base from which to visit Dartmouth, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth. Paignton with its zoo, steam railway and sandy beaches are worth a visit. Brixham makes a great day out with its fishing port or catch the boat from Torquay. Discover National Trust castles at Compton, 3 miles and Berry Pomeroy. Explore Dartmoor, with its rocky tors, wild ponies, exquisite walks, horse riding, fishing, cycling, falconry and golf at Bovey Castle, an award-winning course. Don't forget to stop for a cream tea in one of the many tea shops on Dartmoor. Shop, pub and restaurant 1/4 mile.
