Within walking distance, Shanklin offers everything for the perfect holiday base with its numerous restaurants, cafes and bars, whether along the sea front or in the quaint old village with its thatched cottages and local gift shops. This popular seaside town is also ideally located next to Sandown with its amusements, crazy golf, zoo and pier and from the town centre you can catch an open top bus exploring all that the island has to offer. There are many historical houses, beautiful gardens and scenic walks along the Heritage coastline. Other attractions on the island include Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, the Ventnor Botanical Gardens, a donkey sanctuary and Calbourne Water Mill which is a 17th-century working watermill. Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle and the sailing towns of Cowes and Yarmouth are also all worth visiting. Outdoor pursuits include walking, riding, golf, cycling and water sports. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 3/4 mile.

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

Take the ferry using either Wightlink or Red Funnel Ferries (to book, tel:0871 376 1000 or 0870 444 8889) From Yarmouth take the A3054 to Newport. Take A3020 through Blackwater and Rookley towards Godshill. Drive through Godshill continuing on A3020 towards Shanklin. After entering and passing the sign for Shanklin take the 4th road on the left; Windsor Drive and continue for 200 yards until the road bends to the left which then becomes Rushclose. Number 11 is at the end of the cul-de-sac on the right. From East Cowes Ferry Terminal take A3021 until it meets the A3054. Follow signs for Newport, and then pick up directions as above. From Ryde or Fishbourne take the A3054 towards Newport and continue as above.
