Glossary of
terms
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with common terms used by RCI in communication with
our members.
affiliated Resort
A resort, resort group or holiday club with which RCI has a contractual agreement to offer.
bonus Week
Excess exchange inventory available for cash (no Points required). Normally only available for last minute travel dates.
booking Confirmation
The written notice confirming that accommodations have been reserved for the member.
Confirmed Exchange
An exchange for which a written confirmation notice has been issued.
Exchange
The process by which a member
receives a holiday swap, based on comparable Points value.
Guest Certificate
Enables members to give a holiday confirmation or certain other benefits to a friend or family member.
home Resort
An affiliated resort at which a member owns holiday time to use for the purpose of an Exchange.
maintenance Levies / Fees
The fee paid on an annual basis to a member’s home resort for general upkeep and maintenance of the unit and resort grounds.
Ongoing search
If a suitable match isn’t immediately available, you can start an Ongoing
Search for free. RCI will look for your holiday request 24/7, until a match is found or your travel date passes
- if there’s no match or you’re not fully satisfied with the options you’re presented, RCI will keep searching.
Extending Points
Moving saved Points into the next Use Year for a fee. You can only extend saved Points once.
saving Points
You can save Points from the current Use Year to the next Use Year. Points that have been saved from one Use Year to the next may not be saved into a third Use Year.
borrowing Points
Anytime during a current Use Year, you can borrow Points from the next year.
