Holidays are a luxury that can work out to be quite an expense, especially for families who don’t have the opportunity to get away outside of school holidays. Thankfully, timeshare, used with RCI membership, makes holidaying much more affordable using RCI's interest-free payment plan, exclusive to members booking Extra Holidays.
RCI members have access to holidays that work out at a fraction of the cost of the high street prices you might pay when booking with a travel agent. With more than 4,000 resorts in over 100 countries, RCI members can holiday wherever suits their family needs. Whether it's a European sunshine break, strapping on a pair of skis in the Alps, or going long-haul to experience everything the US has to offer, there's a holiday for everyone.
Go further for less
Extra Holidays are one of the many benefits RCI members have access to. Extra Holidays are additional RCI accommodation all over the world giving our members more choice of where and when they can holiday. The best thing about our Extra Holidays is that you don’t have to use your timeshare weeks or points to book them - they are cash only holidays, starting at just £229 per week. This means that if you have used all your weeks and points allocation, Extra Holidays are there to give you another holiday option.
To make Extra Holidays even more accessible, RCI has now introduced Flexipay, which is an interest-free payment plan for RCI members booking an Extra Holiday. The holiday must have a value of £250 or more to qualify and a deposit of just 25 per cent of the total cost must be paid upfront. The balance can then be paid in up to 12 monthly instalments, with the last payment due 56 days before your holiday departure date. This gives you the opportunity to go further afield on your next break, or afford to take that special holiday for a milestone anniversary or birthday that you've always wanted.
Grand times in Gran Canaria
To celebrate the new Flexipay payment plan, RCI is giving its members even more opportunities to holiday in Anfi resorts in Gran Canaria.
The resorts included are Anfi Beach Club (RH66), Club Monte Anfi (RJ16), Anfi Emerald Club (RJ17), Club Puerto Anfi (RJ18) and Club Gran Anfi (RJ19), which are all available to book through RCI Extra Holidays. So, if you've always wanted to experience everything Gran Canaria has to offer, this is the perfect opportunity.
As a year-round holiday destination, Gran Canaria is a great destination for families and couples alike. With long stretches of golden sands to spend days relaxing on, lush forest-covered peaks and the spectacular Maspalomas Sand Dunes to explore, there really is something for everyone here.
Here are four of my top things to do on Gran Canaria:
As one of the biggest attractions on the island, the Dunes of Maspalomas are a must-see. Walking along the dunes might be a bit of a work out, so if you don't feel up to that, opt for a 30-minute camel ride across them instead. You can take in the views at a more relaxed pace, and all for just €12 - what an experience!
After all that excitement, reward yourself with a dip in the water at Maspalomas Beach. For those who want to do nothing more strenuous than turning a page of a good book, there is plenty of space to stretch out and, for the more active visitors, watersports are on offer.
Dine at Mercado del Puerto
Mercado del Puerto was the Canary Islands’ first ever food market and is a great place for an afternoon stroll or evening out. Over the years, the market has evolved into a real social hang out, where locals and tourists go for a drink and bite to eat, and there’s often entertainment in the evenings, so it’s well worth a visit, if only to try all the different tapas on offer.
It is close to Las Canteras Beach as well, so you can make a day of it by visiting the beach in the morning, followed by an early tapas dinner and wander around the market stalls.
Hike to Roque Nublo
Gran Canaria’s interior is fantastic for hiking, thanks to its rocky mountainous terrain, so there are many trails to choose from across the island. Roque Nublo is a volcanic rock standing 80 metres tall and is protected by its UNESCO status and offers one of the best views across the island - and all the way across to Mount Teide on Tenerife on a clear day. It comes highly recommended.
Make sure you have the correct footwear and note that it will be much cooler than at the coast, so dress appropriately.
Stroll around Puerto de Mogán
This pretty fishing village, with its bridged canals, has earned the nickname, ‘Venice of the Canaries’. The low-rise buildings covered with colourful flowers trailing from the little balconies, make this a charming place to go for a wander. Bars and restaurants line the port, so it’s the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat and watch the boats bob up and down on the water.
The perks of timeshare
Timeshare accommodation is typically larger than the standard hotel room, which is perfect for families who all want their own space - and to holiday at their own pace.
Anfi apartments come with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area so the whole family can eat in together if you want to take a break from dining out. This is also great for those travelling with small children, as it makes meal times much more relaxed, especially if they've had a tiring day playing in the pool or in the Children's Club. Apartments also boast a separate living area with TV, DVD player, free WiFi, and a balcony with sun loungers to enjoy the warm Gran Canarian weather. A glass of wine, overlooking a beautiful view, is the perfect way to end the day, so make the most of it!
Each of the resorts come with swimming pools, a poolside bar and restaurant, mini-market, children's clubs and sport and fitness activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the day. All of the Anfi resorts have access to a shopping centre, watersports equipment hire, a scuba-diving school, and the Anfi Wellness Centre - the perfect place to go for some 'me time' pampering.
With no two families looking for the same holiday, Anfi resorts have so much to offer, no matter what is on your holiday itinerary.
An example of what you can expect to pay for a one-bedroom apartment at one of the resorts is £1,029 for a week. Once the 25 per cent deposit of £257.25 has been paid, that leaves just £64.31 per month to pay for 12 months. This makes paying for the RCI Extra Holiday much more manageable.
Extra Holidays are a great way to holiday without using any of your weeks or points meaning you can experience even more holidays with RCI - and who doesn't want more holidays? Now there is a Flexipay option, it allows you to budget for those extra special holidays using our interest-free payment plan.
