Tenerife remains a popular holiday destination for its year-round sunshine.
“You really get a feel for the local village life,” said Financial Analyst, Georgina, about her stay at Chayofa Country Club (3595) in sunny Tenerife. Located in the peaceful garden villa of Chayofa, the resort gives guests the chance to recharge after a day out basking in the Mediterranean sun.
“The resort staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help,” she explained. "The best part was that it was only a short taxi journey into the main town of Adeje, which is a vibrant and lively place. We tried a couple of great restaurants which were both close to amazing tapas and cocktail bars."
Digital Marketing Undergraduate, Mariella, stayed at Pearly Grey Ocean Club (1786) in Tenerife. This RCI Gold Crown resort is great for families and those looking for the ultimate relaxation holiday.
“For us it was such a chilled out holiday with friends and family,” she said. "We stayed in such a peaceful area with a few bars, and it was only a short distance from the town where we explored the depths of Costa Adeje. The restaurant in the hotel was so good we ended up eating there most nights. It was surrounded by the ocean and you could just watch the boats sail past while relaxing by the pool, or having a refreshing drink at the pool bar.”
For Marketing and Publications Manager, Rebecca, it was the facilities at CLC The Paradise Club (2701) that made their holiday extra special. The resort comes complete with mini golf, an on-site nightclub and swimming pool.
“It’s a beautiful, spacious resort with everything you could want,” she said. “We stayed within walking distance of many lovely authentic Spanish restaurants and some of Tenerife’s main attractions, including Siam Park.”
What was the overall highlight of holidaying on Tenerife for the girls?
"The best part of our holiday was dining in the local tapas restaurants on our doorstep. We’d definitely go back!” Georgina said. "We loved the Siam Park water activities,” added Rebecca. “The Los Cristianos beaches were also amazing.” For Mariella, however, it was the location that made it such a memorable holiday, as she explained: “I absolutely loved the ocean view from our room. It was beautiful.”
Crete is one of the largest islands in Greece and has a long, impressive history. Nowadays, it's a popular holiday destination with plenty to see and do.
“We loved our day trip to Heraklion Archaeological Museum and a visit to Knossos,” HR Manager, Deryn, explained. "My daughter, Eve, found the mythology stories about the Minotaur, and Daedalus and Icarus, fascinating, especially since Knossos and its labyrinth was a feature of each.”
Having stayed at The Grand Leoniki (7456) in the Platanes prefecture of Crete, Deryn enjoyed being in the centre of folk art and history while staying at this RCI Silver Crown resort. Among sites worth visiting on the island is the Venetian castle, Frotezza, a masterpiece of Palatian architecture.
“It was a lovely place to stay,” Deryn explained. “We were very happy with the clean and well-appointed accommodation, and the amenities such as the pools were excellent. The evening entertainment was very good too.”
For her, the stand out aspect of the resort was the staff. "The front desk and restaurant staff were really friendly and attentive. They really made us feel important. In fact my daughter, Eve, remarked only a few days ago on how she missed the lady from the on-site mini-market, and asked if we could go back to visit her!”
“I’d never visited Orlando before,” Marketing Executive, Danielle, said about her holiday to the theme park capital of the world. There are a number of resorts which are signed up to the RCI Exchange Holiday programme in and around Orlando, and she chose to stay at the WorldMark Orlando Kingstown Reef (7600).
“I had a very big list of theme parks to tick off my bucket list. Although this destination is a families’ dream, no matter what your age you’ll be swept up into the magic. I loved the film-themed experiences, you see them come to life before your very eyes!
“We stayed on International Drive. This central location meant we were a short distance from all the big theme parks and great restaurants. We even got to have a look around the retail outlets nearby.”
As for the facilities at her resort, Danielle was spoiled for choice."If you find time to have a chill out day you can make the most of the on-site facilities," she said.
"This included outdoor pools, whirl pools and a fitness centre. The rooms were very spacious and well-maintained, and provided a great base for our busy holiday.”
If you’re looking for a holiday of stark contrasts, Nevada has the best of both worlds. Not only does it offer the hustle and bustle of the famous Las Vegas Strip, but it’s also home to natural beauties, including the Grand Canyon. It’s also within driving distance of California, giving holidaymakers a jam-packed itinerary for their travels.
That’s exactly what Reporting Analyst, Elaine, did on her recent trip. "We flew into Las Vegas, stayed a few nights and then drove to California to enjoy the theme parks. From there we drove to Palm Springs and stayed at Vista Mirage Resort (2501) before returning to Vegas. We had three weeks in the US and, as driving is so easy there, it made it a great way to experience different states in one holiday.”
In Las Vegas, Elaine stayed at Grandview at Las Vegas (6923). "It was fantastic and in a great location that was far enough from the famous Strip, but close enough to enjoy the experience. The hotels are impressive to look at - the fountains at the Bellagio are incredible - as was our breakfast buffet!”
Reporting and Planning Analyst, Amy, also had a personal favourite during her trip to Las Vegas. She explained: “I really liked the casino Circus-Circus, which has a huge amusement arcade and free circus performances throughout the day.”
Amy stayed at Bluegreen Club 36 (A851), located just east of The Strip and close to the airport. "The hotel was a peaceful retreat away from the Casinos and night owls,” she said. “The apartments were large, luxurious and well equipped. I particularly liked the roomy double shower!”
Amy also made use of the transport links during her stay. “The staff were helpful as there’s a complimentary minibus which offers lifts to the bigger hotels throughout the day, she said. "The mobile apps for taxis were also well priced and proved to be an easy way to get around the city during our stay.”
Elaine and Amy both loved holidaying with their families. "We wanted to experience a Vegas show,” Elaine said. “We decided on Penn and Teller as we were travelling as a family and their show was absolutely incredible.”
For Amy, getting out into the natural wonders of Nevada was her highlight. She explained: “The expanse of rock formations at the Grand Canyon were breathtaking and, truly, one of a kind to satisfy my geologist brother.”
