Tokyo is the epicenter of all things novéau and quirky, where tech-savvy meets fantasy. Utter her name and it renders any avid traveler with awe and giddy appreciation. A bustling ‘To’
or metropolis, it is one of the biggest cities in the world!
This is where the world convenes and sometimes seeks inspiration, from the streets of Harajuku to the futuristic skyscrapers of architectural genius
in Shinjuku. So what are you waiting for? Let Tokyo tantalize and redefine your urban jungle. Endless Vacation® will show you the different places to discover and play to your heart’s content!
Dash and Splash in Odaibo
Itching for a spin in the latest
Toyota models? The Mega Web is an exhibition on all the models from this famous Japanese car maker. You can test drive any of the cars on ‘Ride One’ or choose the ‘E-Com Ride’, an electric car that zips through the building.
Japan is the land of hot spring baths, and the Oedo Onsen Monogatari takes this relaxing past time to a whole new level. It combines fun in the form of a theme park and its interiors are decorated to reflect the Edo period.
Soak in a touch of nostalgia while you enjoy the dozen types of bath.
Whimsical Wind Chimes
Nothing beats a handmade gift, specially crafted with love. Learn
how to make Edo Furin (glass wind chimes) from Yukata Shinohara. Blow and paint your own Edo Furin at his studio - Shinohara Furin Hompo, which is a 10-minute walk from the Mizue Station.
Chilly Vibes
Fancy a Viking cocktail in an uber cool bar at 5 degrees Celsius? Look no further than Ginza for the Absolut Icebar. Its interiors, furniture and glasses are entirely furnished from natural, pristine ice from the Thorne River in Sweden. A cape is thoughtfully handed to you when you enter the chilly enclave.
The Cat’s Meow
Credit the Japanese for always coming up with new ways to treat our furry, four-legged companions. Here at the Cat Café Calico in Shinjuku, you
can have a purr-fect time with exotic breeds of around 20 cats while sipping a cappuccino. Spend an afternoon with some feline affection.
As one of the 47 prefectures that make up Japan, Tokyo is the heart beat of
a rich culture steep in decades of old traditions, while being future forward. Immerse yourself and experience life as a Tokyoite. Even if it is for a short trip, because a taste of Tokyo will have you coming back for more.
08 ENDLESS VACATION
Do’s:
• Do bring a small present if you are invited to a Japanese home.
• Always remove your shoes when entering a shrine, temple or home.
• Do bow when you want to say Arigato Gozaimasu (Thank you).
Don’ts:
• Do not photograph a Geisha or anyone without their permission.
• Do not forget to bring an international adapter plug for electrical appliances such as digital camera chargers or mobile phone chargers. Japan only uses the two flat pin plugs.
• Do not place your chopsticks into the bowl when you have finished eating. Leave them vertically across the bowl instead.
