Virtual Vacation Planning Tools

Whether you’re planning for a family gathering, graduation or rescheduling postponed vacations, having the right tools to plan virtually is an important first step. While RCI has you covered on thousands of destinations, knowing what trip is right for everyone is a matter of preference.

We compiled some of the best free conferencing services to help get your squad on the same page.

Zoom – The use of Zoom has soared among Americans during the pandemic. It boasts the ability to connect up to one hundred people on a video call which surpasses the abilities of many other top conferencing services. Users have the ability to schedule unlimited amounts of meetings for up to forty minutes at a time. This is a great option for gathering a large group of travelers together to plan.

Skype – No list of conference call apps is complete without mentioning Skype, if for no other reason than many people you know have already use it. Skype has been widely used for easy video conferencing and has screen share capabilities. When planning with larger groups, Skype is a great option because it allows up to 50 people to join as a group together for upwards of four hours.

WhatsApp- WhatsApp is one of the leading messenger apps that allows calling and video conferencing for people across the world at no cost to the user. This app is a great way to stay connected with loved ones while on a vacation and could be a great resource to planning your next big trip. This app supports up to eight users on a call with extended call time. The only set back to this feature is that it requires the use of a mobile phone. If you plan on using your computer to chat with your trip members, you may be better off sticking to one of the other services.

Google Duo – Google Duo is one of the simplest group calling apps for chatting with family and friends. It doesn’t require participants to have a google account and connects users from their phone number. The service is increasing the number of participants to twelve people at a time and has apps for iOS and Android. This service doesn’t have all of the same bells and whistles as some of the other contenders but is an easy way to connect your group and start planning.

Facebook Messenger Rooms – This newly released video-calling feature has been said to pose an immediate threat to some of the top call conferencing companies. Messenger Rooms will allow you to chat with up to 50 people with no time limit. The room hosts will have the ability to lock calls, remove users and invite people who don’t have a Facebook account. This could be a great solution that uses a platform that most of your group already utilizes.

These conferencing options will allow you the ability to connect easily and reliably with your crew from the comfort of your sofa. Whether you need the basic ability to connect or need more robust software, these free options are a great place to get your vacation started. Happy planning!
