September 15 – October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, and we are proud to have a diverse team of talented individuals, whose varied backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger as an RCI family. This week our Diversity Spotlight shines on Rony Hernandez who is currently a Supervisor on the Resort Services Team.
“Since day one, I was welcomed to the RCI familia!”
Being Hispanic / Latinx in the US is a blessing because I get to share with people my culture and love for life. I learned to cook delicious food from Nicaragua at an early age and I enjoy sharing with family and friends. Everyone loves my cooking! In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, playing basketball, serving at my local church, volunteering in the community, traveling, eating some good food and hanging out with our life group.
Since day one, I was welcomed to the RCI familia! I had the honor to represent RCI as an Onsite Liaison in Orlando, FL, where I was the face of the company for seven years. Working directly with our members and affiliates from all over the world is an experience that I will never forget. Putting to work my bilingual skills was rewarding, thank you RCI!
LIFE OUTSIDE OF RCI…
I support my community by helping to translate at events with church, at work, and helping during holidays. I look for other translation opportunities when I can. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, playing basketball, serving at my local church, volunteering in the community, traveling, eating some good food and hanging out with our life group.
RONY’S FAVORITE TRADITION
I love music, which is a big part of the Hispanic culture. There is a Spanish saying: A mover el esqueleto: to move the skeleton. Latin music does just that! Since being a young one, I always enjoyed going out dancing and listening to: merengue, bachata and reggaeton. Music brings us together, is fun, loving and you will get a workout dancing!
