Port Macquarie NSW Australia
Just a few hours north of Sydney on the mid north coast of NSW, the vibrant and unspoilt town of Port Macquarie offers a distinctive mix of heritage buildings, modern hotels and diverse dining.
With its stunning coastline of rocky headlands and position neighbouring the banks of the Hastings River, it is also a water lover’s haven with numerous stunning beaches to choose from.
Name Game
Port Macquarie was first visited by Europeans in 1818 when John Oxley reached the Pacific Ocean from the interior after his journey to explore inland New South Wales. He named the location after the Governor of New South Wales, Lachlan Macquarie.

The year construction of
the magnificent St Thomas Anglican Church began. Built by convicts over four years you can gain an appreciation of the culture of the times by taking a guided tour. It is the third oldest church still standing in Australia and is still a place of worship.

The number of people who have visited Timbertown in Wauchope since it opened in 1976. Just 23kms from Port Macquarie it is considered to be one of Australia’s finest Heritage Parks. Set on 87 acres of natural forest it recreates an entire early Australian village.

The coastal walk from Tacking Point Lighthouse to the Town Green foreshore. This stretch of coastline is one of the most picturesque in NSW and features a string of white sandy coves punctuated by rocky outcrops and sheer sided headlands that jut into the sea.
Beaches Galore
There are nine fabulous beaches to escape to in Port Macquarie with most patrolled during the summer months. Town Beach
is popular with body boarders and swimmers, Flynn’s Beach
is ideal for families and Nobby’s Beach features some great walking tracks while visitors can get a chance to
see dolphins and whales at Lighthouse Beach.
