relax
Pearl of the
Phuket is nestled by boundless coral reefs and gorgeous limestone mountains offering a picturesque landscape. Here are some places to lead you to the path of unadulterated nirvana of relaxation.
A Yen for Yoga
Yoga devotees need not look further than the Karuna Meditation Centre to unwind. Tucked away in Nakatani Village, it boasts affordable first-class facilities. You and your loved ones or friends can meditate at an outdoor yoga sala (pavilion), bask on the isolated pristine sandy beach nearby or stroll
in the lush forest. The instructors are highly professional and provide lucid instructions in English.
Gibbons and Waterfalls
For nature and wildlife lovers, the Bang Pae Waterfalls is an ideal place to calm your senses while enjoying the company of gibbons at the Gibbons Rehabilitation Centre. It is located at the northern part of Phuket
and overlooks the Two Heroines Monuments.
Mysterious Hongs
For a more relaxed adventure, try canoeing around the hongs (collapsed sea caves). The best locations for hongs are at the Pha Nga Bay or Krabi Islands. Be captivated by the unique eco-systems of these sea caves during December to March. You will be lulled into serenity by its surroundings.
Game Fishing and Mokens
Anglers have their own share of fun and a bit of “rest and relax”. Game fishing at the Racha Island is the
ultimate treat and the best spots to catch Marlin, Dorado, Dog Tooth fishes and more. If you’re up for a swim, you might just catch sight of a school of Leopard Sharks.
Surin Nuea is the humble abode of
the Moken (sea gypsies). Observe
their daily happenings at sea on their kabang (boat) while you admire the beautiful coral reefs below the turquoise blue waters. Rare creatures such as the crocodile fish, ribbon eel and leaf fish call this part of the Andaman Sea their watery haven.
The beaches of Phuket and its many islands certainly offer unrivaled sceneries. Whether you wish to learn rustic Thai cooking or putting the green at some of the best gold courses in
the world, Phuket is a perfect holiday escapade for you.
