The most beautiful sites in Zhejiang West Lake
Located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang’s capital and a key national tourist city, West Lake is one of the ten best scenic spots in China. It covers an area of 5.6 square kilometres and has a circumference of 15 kilometres. It is surrounded by emerald hills on three sides, and the city stands on its east. It is also surrounded by famous cultural relics and scenic spots shrouded in luxuriant vegetation.
West Lake is known for the wonderful scenery of one moon in the sky having three reflections in the lake. This unique aspect of the West Lake is known as ‘The Moon Reflected in Three Ponds’, because within the lake are islands, and within those islands are lakes which catch the reflection of the moon at night.
