METRO MANILA, PHILIPPINES
CITY LIGHTS AND TOWERING BUILDINGS ILLUMINATE THE CITY SKYLINE OF PHILIPPINES’ BUSY NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, METROPOLITAN MANILA.
Despite its name, Metro Manila encompasses more than just the capital of
Philippines. Cities including Quezon, Parañaque and Makati all combine to
form a 638.55 km2 of concrete jungle bursting with life.
Makati, Business District of Metro Manila
One of the most populous urban areas in the world with just under 12 million people, Metro Manila has something for everyone, whether you’re a food lover, history buff or shopaholic.
A melting pot of races and religions, the city is chock full of cultural hotspots like Chinatown, Little India and Japantown. A mix of beliefs from all over the globe
has spawned a myriad of cathedrals, temples and other remarkable religious sites like the Golden Mosque whose dome comprises actual gold.
Being a former Spanish colony, it also holds many historic remnants of Latin American culture. One such vestige is the Intramuros, meaning ‘within the walls’
in Spanish. Constructed in the late 16th century by the Spanish colonial government as defence against foreign attacks, it still proves a formidable sight to this day. History enthusiasts will also enjoy the National Museum of the Philippines, which features everything from ancient fine arts to winged
