Not far away is 19th Century Wat Chalong (Wat Chaitararam), the largest and one of the most visited Buddhist temples of the 29 spread around Phuket Island. Locals come to pray and visitors come to learn about Buddhism. The temple contains several important statues and the most recent
building dominating the temple, the Grand Pagoda contains a splinter of bone from the Buddha. Its walls and ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings illustrating the life of Buddha. Take your time and enjoy its breezy, cool location and calm atmosphere. Visitors welcome daily 7:00 am-5:00 pm
