Originally, a quiet surfing spot, Margaret River has quickly evolved into a cosmopolitan town where boutique hotels rub shoulders with high-end dining establishments – yet it still draws surfers to its shores. Endless, golden swathes of beach are often half-deserted and the crystal clear waters offer some
of the best breaks in Australia. In fact, it’s so famed for its surfing that not just one, but two annual surfing events are held here: the Margaret River Classic and the Margaret River Pro. The other main event you may wish to attend is the yearly Leeuwin Estate Concert for lovers of classical music.
