Staying at the Fiji Palms Resort- Pacific Harbour, Fiji was one of our most memorable family holidays ever. We were really excited to be able to book the school holiday’s week and flew to Fiji full of enthusiasm and we were not disappointed.
From the airport, the shuttle bus to the resort took almost three hours but we were greeted with great hospitality on arrival from the staff. After checking in, we were led to our unit which was very spacious and comfortable. It had a full kitchen, two bedrooms, a lounge with sofa bed and full kitchen/dining and laundry facilities. There was a swimming pool and the beach was just a short walk at the back of the resort. The warm weather ensured it was fantastic for all day swimming. Our little boy Ben found many children to play with during our stay.
On our first night, there was a meet and greet party for all the guests. We enjoyed their “Lovo” which
was the traditional Fiji equivalent
of a New Zealand “Hangi”. There were cultural presentations, “Kava” drinking and lots of fun and laughter
all throughout the evening.
In the following days, we visited the wonderful villages and enjoyed shop
shopping at the markets. The papaya, mangoes, pineapple were
in abundance and good value at
the markets. We drank lots and lots of fresh coconut juice which was available at the resort. When we didn’t feel like cooking, we opted to have fine dining meals at the nearby restaurants along the beach.
On the Sunday morning we visited
a church and it was amazing that people never seemed to be in a hurry. It was always “no problem” no matter what we asked for. We thought we were running late, but realised that the church services here go on for
a long time. Even though, it was still very enjoyable. Later on we took a tour of Suva and did some shopping. We will definitely be coming back to Fiji Palms.
